Wow! Jessie Donovan totally rocked my world... again with The Dragon Warrior, the fourth riveting release in her popular Lochguard Highland Dragons Series. I've been a diehard Jessie Donovan fan for years and eagerly await each new release but I think The Dragon Warrior may be my new favorite! Yes, I know I say the same thing every time but this series keeps getting better and better! I love, love, love romance, fascinated by anything paranormal or supernatural, adore action and adventure, and completely smitten with sexy dragons, so when I can find the perfect combination of all these elements, I'm in heaven. And Jessie Donovan delivers every single time! The Dragon Warrior is a fast-paced, well-crafted, well-edited, full-length paranormal romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with primary perspectives from the two protagonists, former Lochguard Clan head protector Faye MacKenzie and her replacement, current Lochguard Clan head protector Grant McFarland. That little nugget of information alone should immediately give you a clue to one source of conflict between these two strong characters. But in true Donovan style, the author keeps us on our toes with additional points of view from two of my favorite characters, Lochguard Clan Leader Finlay Stewart and former Stonefire clan member Arabella MacLeod-Stewart who is now mated to Finn. We also get an enticing sneak peek into the thoughts of an enigmatic new character named Lachlan MacKintosh, a handsome human Department of Dragon Affairs employee and coordinator for an experimental cultural outreach program between the humans and dragon clans of the UK featuring the work of dragon-shifter artists and craftsmen. The dialogue is smart, sassy, seductive and well executed. But my favorite component of every Jessie Donovan story is the cast of intriguing, engaging, always memorable and exceptionally well-developed characters. I fell in love with both Grant and Faye when they were introduced much earlier in the series and looked forward to reading each of their stories. I just had no idea it would be in the same book. lol... But I'm so glad Donovan chose to pair these two strong, stubborn, independent characters. Their attraction is undeniable, their interaction electric and the banter between them and their dragons is beyond entertaining and quite often hilarious! Grant and Faye turned out to be perfect together and when these two lock horns, it's nothing short of explosive. Of course, we also get the scoop on our other favorite Lochguard characters which naturally includes Lorna MacKenzie and her new human mate Ross Anderson. Faye's twin brothers, Fraser and Fergus MacKenzie and their human mates Holly Anderson-MacKenzie and Gina MacDonald-MacKenzie, along with Faye's cousin and Lochguard Clan leader Finlay Stewart and his mate, Stonefire dragonwoman ArabellaMacLeod, now pregnant with triplets, and so many more! Oh, and Fraser and Holly are also expecting a wee bairn! Maybe it will be twins since it runs in the family! I can hardly wait for all these dragon babies to be born and grow up to have their own stories. And, of course, there's always a few fascinating new characters as well. If you love well written paranormal romance filled to the brim with heart-pounding action and adventure, spine-tingling suspense, agonizing angst, unexpected plot twists, laugh-out-loud humor, sexy dragons, heated attraction, fiery passion, and steamy, dreamy sex, then this is definitely the book for you! Since the author does include ample snippets of backstory, a reader can certainly enjoy this story as a standalone. However, although the Lochguard Highland Dragons and the Stonefire British Dragons Series are two separate series, they are cohesive and there is a common underlying interconnected storyarc throughout all the books with crossover characters. For that reason, I highly recommend reading the other books in the series. It will certainly enrich your reading experience and it will be one decision, I'm sure, you'll never regret. So settle in, my lovelies, and prepare to be entertained! Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some very randy dragons and some steamy dreamy sex! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! I was glued to my ereader, my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the time flew as quickly as the pages. I always look forward to reading a Jessie Donovan story because I know before I read the first page, I'm always guaranteed a heartwarming story with a cast of wonderful characters and a lovely happy ending, and The Dragon Warrior was no exception! Congratulations Jessie Donovan on another fabulous book. I can hardly wait to see what you have in store for us next!
Faye MacKenzie was tired of sitting on the sidelines, twiddling her thumbs. Although she'd never admit it, she was lonely. With her mom newly mated to the human Ross Anderson, it was only logical for her to move out of her family home. She should be happy now that she has a place of her own but she can't help but wish for something more. Before the debilitating injury to her wing during an attack by the Dragon Knights, she had a career as Head Protector for Clan Lochguard which took up most of her time. She'd been a capable and well-respected warrior but it seemed those days were over. Now everyone either tiptoed around with pitying looks or avoided her completely. It was bloody awful. She's completely miserable and, even worse, bored to death. Her injuries hadn't killed her but surely boredom would. At first, she'd been angry, especially at Grant McFarland, the man who had taken over her job as Head Protector for Clan Lochguard. Rationally, she knew he wasn't responsible for her problems, however, she could blame him for refusing to allow her to work as a full-time member of his team, not even for something as boring as surveillance or monitoring. They'd known each other their entire lives, had grown up together, so he knew better than most that she was not only qualified but also more than capable of contributing to the safety and protection of their clan. But ever since they shared a special moment after the most recent attack on Lochguard, when she thought he might kiss her, he'd been avoiding her entirely. Obviously, thinking he cared for her had all been in her imagination. Faye had once mistakenly believed there could be something between her and Grant, possibly they were even true mates, but he'd made it quite clear during the two years they served together in the British Army that he could never be interested in someone like her; she wasn't feminine enough for him which loosely translated meant she wasn't a helpless, simpering female who needed a male to take care of her. But since working together as protectors for the last several years, at least, he'd been more civil. She had no idea why he suddenly seemed so determined to avoid her but she'd had enough. It was time for her to confront grumpy Grant McFarland and do whatever it took to force him into giving her a job. She still had a few aces up her sleeve. After all, her cousin Finn was still clan leader. Now, if she could just stop thinking about kissing the stubborn dragonman and get her dragon to stop being so stubborn, then maybe she could get Grant to give her a chance. It's time to prove to everyone including grumpy Grant McFarland that she still can take care of herself. And as luck would have it, the perfect opportunity has just landed in her lap. Her childhood friend, Cat MacAllister, is an artist and part of a new cultural outreach program sponsored by the DDA. She needs a bodyguard for an exhibition in Inverness. This mission could be the perfect opportunity for Faye to try to locate the clan traitors and prove, once and for all, she was still capable of protecting her clan.. and maybe even finally get that kiss. But will Grant agree to both?
The one thing Grant McFarland never imagined he would become is afraid. For the first time in his life, he was truly frightened, not for his safety but for the wellbeing of someone he loved. He already had more on his plate than he could handle. He certainly didn't need the added complication of a mate, especially now that half his family had become traitors and attacked their own clan. His enemies would love nothing more than to discover he had feelings for someone. Until recently, he hadn't realized just how much he did care for beautiful, determined and very stubborn Faye MacKenzie. He'd really made a mess of things in the past and hurt her terribly. But acting on his feelings, now, would only serve to make her a target, so he would continue to avoid her and wait for the right time. He knew it would be nearly impossible to regain her trust but he was ready to do whatever it took, including some serious groveling and wooing, to win her love and forgiveness. Unfortunately, his dragon didn't agree with his plan and was determined to make his life even more difficult by insisting Faye was a capable warrior who could take care of herself. His randy dragon was driving him crazy with his constant demands for Grant to kiss the beautiful fiery dragonwoman. But Grant knew the truth, Faye MacKenzie is his true mate and one kiss would never be enough; it would only lead to a mating frenzy, something neither of them could afford right now. With the lives and welfare of their families and clan at stake, as well as their own, Grant can't afford any distractions that could get them killed, but is he strong enough to deny fate and his feelings for Faye, at least a while longer? We'll see!

The Dragon Warrior Lochguard Highland Dragons Book 4 edition by Jessie Donovan Hot Tree Editing Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
This story of Faye and Grant was different. Faye dragon did not agree of Grant at first but it finally did accept him. Most in the other books the dragon is more anxious to find their true mate. But Faye dragon did not. It was good to hear more about Arabella and Finn. Finally the triplets are born. Cannot wait to read more stories. Thank you!
A great addition to her series. Funny, romantic and thoroughly enjoyable. I especially like the interaction between Faye and Grant's Dragons as well as the interaction involving Finn and Arabella. I can't wait to see what happens to them as well as the Irish Clans. If you like her other books you will love this one as well.
If you're considering buying this book, then you've probably read the previous ones...so you know this world. I love having the chance to revisit clans we know and love. I eagerly await Chase's story. And I would LOVE to know more about Max. In this story we get more Dragon to Dragon communication than we have ever had. It was amazing to get a peek at their world. Enjoy!
This story is about Grant and Faye and all the ups and drowns they have gone through to be together. She was the head protector but after a injury she couldn’t do the job. Grant has taken over but he thinks he could use her help. Plus Faye is his true mate. But like alway trouble is making it hard for them to make it happen. So enjoy the read and now we will have to wait for the next in this part of the series but don’t forget the other part about the Stonefire clan ! !
I loved this book, Grant and Faye are two of my favorite characters. Their story finally gets told and their true feelings are revealed in this book.
While Faye has always fancied Grant, his rebuke of her when they were in the army left a sting. Then after her accident and her feelings of being less than who she was its Grant who helps her become her true self. Faye also shows Grant that it is okay to love and laugh, even when you are the head protector.
The side story of the birth of Arabella's babies is so adorable as well. The foreshadowing with new characters and plot twists was amazing. I look forward to the next book.
I love these Dragon-shifter books. Jessie Donovan writes fantastic books with excitement and intrigue to keep your attention. I had a very difficult time putting this book down until I finished it. Faye and Grant are protectors of their clan, and they have a long history together. This book is about them and the challenges they meet trying to protect the clan and hold off their feelings for one another. There is so much excitement, Intrigue, suspense, romance, and humor. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Happy reading!!
This is grants and faye story! There is action, some humor, teasing, and a bit of romance. New characters get introduced and there is a lot of care and love in this story. I like the fact that the author includes previous characters such as finn and Arabella’s pregnancy and labor. Grand and Faye had both known each a long time but had their faults. They both volunteered to an assignment away from the clan. Had grant had that opportunity to find the traitors and Faye wanted to proof herself and the head protector that she can still be useful. They never realized what they were to each other because they weren’t ready and as their clan gets threats they find suspicious objects and try to solve the problems before they go crazy and get into a mate frenzy claim. I definitely recommend the series. Also with you should follow the stonefire series. I loved it and can’t wait to get lost again on the next book and in this world that the author has created.
